It's all about the brooch!

Last week Chris and I went to a show at the El Rey Theater to see Rufus Wainwright. We didn't know about it until Chris saw the marquee that morning and was lucky enough to find tickets from Craig's List. Then we got there just in time to get the last table up in the balcony. It was a great show with songs from his new album and a special tribute to Judy Garland. Rufus's voice and style is very unique, with smooth melodies, both melancholy and whimsical. He played guitar and piano with his band that often sounds like a big orchestra, from banjo to the flute, to saxophone and the french horn. And to add more fun to the show, Rufus wore a striped shirt with matching shorts, and made sure we all know about his love for brooches. I had a wonderful time and look forward to playing his music on my ipod.
