After a year and a half of building and remodeling, we finally had our first party to celebrate the completion of our backyard dream. It was a great turn out. Since it was the Friday night before Easter weekend, we got off work earlier, giving us a few hours of day light to really see all of our hardwork. And also a more dramatic change of atmophere when the lights came on and all the candles lit.
We had prepared some appetizers and cheeses. And for dinner we served a pesto chicken salad and salmon cooked on cedar planks (my first time cooking it, and it turned out real well). The store bought cappuccino mousse cake was also a huge hit. There was an on-going slide show on the computer of the before and after photos of our house. And my guided tour highlighted the "special features" of our design. Everyone had a great time catching up, and played a few games of Wii tennis and bowling.
Chris and I had so much fun hosting and enjoying the party ourselves. And I'm already thinking of what to do for the next party!
